Hi All,
I had a question on ball screw.
We all know ball screw operate by turning the screw to move the nut forward or backward.
Can I do the opposite way by rotating the nut to move the fixed screw forward or backward?
Thanks for your help.

Jayson

Yes. Rotating the nut is very common. I work on several machines with rotating nuts: Heian routers, Homag edgebanders, and Homag tennoners. The screw is not moved, however; the nut and the attached devices move back and forth along the screw. I don't see any reason why you couldn't move the screw, but you would have probably have clearance and safety issues if you have a very long screw moving in and out.
