There are many signals that Vietnam will become the next dynamic marketplace for automation business.

Big companies in this business like ABB, Honeywell, Emerson, Yokogawa, Invensys, Siemens are doing a lot of marketing activities to get their foothold in this emerging and very high potential market.

We would like you to contribute your thoughts.

Yes, I believed that Vietnam will be a huge market for automation, probably in at least 10 to 12 years time, but not now... It is the BIG BOYS GAME now in Vietnam where it comes to building of infrastructure. Replacement parts or systems are going to take about 7 to 8 years before those current systems breakdown.

Local manufacturers are now looking at semi-automated systems than fully automated ones, and most of them are looking at buying machines to manufacture, whether is it new or re-conditioned. Best business I believed will be consumables for industrial sectors, and not yet for automation business.

Its also the best time for the BIG BOYS to brand themselves and spending more efforts in technological institutes and industrial training centers. This is the key to early marketing and providing hands-on for trainees, so that these trainees will be more familiarized with these brand names and technologies when they are scattered in the huge industries of Vietnam.

Yeah, you are correct. And that's why Siemens, Yokogawa, ABB and other BIG BOYS are now spending money for those training activities.

But for smaller players, it is not feasible. 2 years ago, I also started a training JV with some partners in VIetnam and an Australian company named IDC http://www.idc-online.com but it failed because we could not charge the money needed at least to make a break-even...

Maybe now is the right time to set-up some sort of maintenance and repair workrshop for those old or second-hand machines. We are actually asking some kind of JV for this business here.

Hi haisoncompany, maybe this can help. I saw some post recently on IDC in Malaysia, maybe you can contact them for the JV you're talking about in Vietnam, coz I think that now Vietnam is the right time for industrial training programmes. Hear Hear! Vietnam attracted more than $10.2 billion in registered capital to carry out foreign investment projects in 2006
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
June 6, 2007 -- Vietnam has quickly become a leading recipient of foreign investment by U.S. companies. As a result of favorable governmental policies, a well-educated workforce and concern about China's rising costs, Vietnam has experienced a significant rise in direct foreign investment. These companies view Vietnam as a real alternative for establishing manufacturing and distribution centers, primarily for export.

Recent investments include Intel's project in Ho Chi Minh City with a total investment of $1 billion. This investment is being followed by other hi-tech investments as well as prospective Intel suppliers.

Vietnam attracted more than $10.2 billion in registered capital to carry out foreign investment projects in 2006 -- nearly $8 billion went toward 800 new projects and more than $2.2 billion to 440 applications for capital expansion of existing projects.

During the last 2 years, Vietnam has yielded robust economic results and showed up strongly on investors' radars following WTO entry, hosting of the APEC meeting and the U.S. government's approval of permanent normal trade relations.

May not be now ……….So it sure thing will be happening in the not too far distant future……

Hi,

I just came back from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and I'm really glad to see the robust growth in Vietnam. And yes, and with no doubt, IA-Community Media Group will make its way into Vietnam. After meeting some high ranking officials last week, we are currently making our plans for a vast marketing campaign to promote the industrial automation industry in Vietnam.

As some of you may have already know, that we will be leading the Industrial Automation Trade Mission to Vietnam (Hanoi & Ho Chi Minh City) from 25th to 29th Sept this year, accompanied by Malaysia's Deputy Minister of Science, Technology And Innovation (MOSTI) and all its agenices, to witness the Signing Ceremony of MOU between VIETSTAA & FMM ATIG, this auspicious event will be marked as the "highway for collaboration" between automation companies between the 2 countries.

Check out soon in our Directory Search in this portal, and you will find all major industrial companies listed within... And for your info, Registered Members (after login) will be able to communicate with every organization found in the Directory Search via the Email Messaging System (EMS).

For those who would like to know more about the forthcoming Industrial Automation Trade Mission To Vietnam (Hanoi & Ho Chi Minh City), please click here: http://www.ia-community.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=461

See ya soon... rolleyes.gif
