GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms Announces DataViews Update for Intel Solaris 10 Operating System and X86 Architecture

New Features Include Increased Graph Configurability, Enhanced Fill Effect Properties and Powerful Background Transparency Ability

GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms, a unit of GE Enterprise Solutions, today announced the latest release of DataViews v9.20, a set of high quality graphic visualization development tools for building custom applications in various industries such as manufacturing, aerospace, and infrastructure. The new version is updated for the Intel Solaris 10 UNIX-based operating system running on the X86 architecture and includes new features that increase graph configurability, enhance fill effect properties/dynamics, and introduces the ability for transparent backgrounds.

“The Solaris 10 operating system and other UNIX variants are becoming more and more popular because of their enhanced security,” said Mark Pipher, Product General Manager for HMI/SCADA products for GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms. “This product saves time and money so IT managers can focus on programming core applications.”

DataViews is a dynamic visualization toolkit that allows customers to develop high quality visualizations within their applications in order to fit their specific needs. DataViews is easy to use, offers multi-platform support, delivers high-speed performance of visualization updates and is part of GE Fanuc’s Open & Layered strategy of software development.

With more than 15 years of ongoing development, applications created with DataViews can be found in many different industries for a wide variety of custom applications including an onboard combat tank battlefield identification system, a metropolitan traffic control system, and a warship damage control system. The multi-platform support and powerful graphical development editor have been the keys to DataViews ongoing success.

“There are many benefits associated with DataViews,” continued Pipher. “It saves programmers significant development time, and it allows graphical objects to be developed and imported quickly and easily rather than having to develop them in code. It fits seamlessly in the application being developed and leverages industry standard solutions to save data connectivity development time.” This new DataViews release on the Intel Solaris x86 architecture offers our customers an affordable and viable Windows/Linux alternative for the in-house development of their dynamic application interfaces. Using the toolkit’s open API, developers can effectively and efficiently create complex, high performance, customized interfaces for their control and visualization applications.

“DataViews is a leading custom visualization software package in the industry. Solaris x86 users can now get the power of DataViews for their development needs,” said Pipher.
