Advantech 19” Slim and Fanless Point-of-Care Terminal Complies with IP54 Standard

KL, Malaysia, April 2008 – Advantech is pleased to announce the availability of the POC-S195, a Slim Point-of-Care Terminal with a 19” high-contrast LCD to help medical professionals deliver quality nursing care and better patient monitoring. The POC-S195’s robust design is sealed against water and dust, with fanless design for low audible noise. A book light and optional trim knob and touchscreen, make it easier than ever to use, and an optional 802.11b/g WLAN module gives the POC-S195 superb mobility.

Slim housing with 19” LCD display
Space is a premium in the hospital. The POC-S195’s slim housing offers an ideal solution for space-conscious design. It uses a VESA standard hole pattern to facilitate easy wall mounting. In addition, the 19” LCD screen with 1300:1 contrast ratio allows patient charts and data to be seen more easily, reducing errors and improving efficiency. The book light provides nurses and doctors with a convenient way to read paper documents in darkened patient areas without disturbing patients by turning on the main lights.

Robust design proven through rigorous testing and certification
The POC-S195 is built with industrial grade components to operate reliably in demanding environments. The certified IP54 dust and water-splash proof enclosure and IP65 dust-tight front panel provides robust protection and can be easily cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and other cleaning agents. Additionally, with UL60601-1, EN60601-1, CE and FCC Class B ratings, the POC-S195 is designed to meet medical safety approval standards, and has lower electrical emissions. It can be used nearer the patient and is resistant to electro-magnetic interference from other devices. The POC-S195 provides extensive connectivity with electrical isolation of LAN and COM ports, offering 2 USB 2.0 ports, a 100 megabit LAN port, and 2 COM ports packaged to meet the demands of medical computing applications

Fanless design with low audible noise
The POC-S195 is powered by an Intel Pentium M 1.4 GHz processor to minimize thermal emissions and reduce system noise. Fanless design makes the POC-S195 ideal for tests involving audio measurement, as well as providing a quiet environment for patients and medical personnel. In addition, the design minimizes dust from accumulating inside the machine.

Medical professionals require reliability and flexibility in their computing platforms. The POC-S195, expected to be available in mid-April, is safety approved, with a low total cost of ownership, and long service life, meeting the needs of medical applications, such as ICU, operating rooms, patient monitoring, and nursing care.
