Hygienic Production in Line with IFS |
Rittal's Hygienic Design enables food producers to meet the increased requirements of the new International Food Standard (IFS), version 5. Existing production systems or individual machines with enclosures and housings can be designed to increase the level of hygiene protection. Management of foreign bodies is improved and internal audits can be performed to document the optimisation measures. Rittal's Hygienic Design enables food producers to meet the increased requirements of the new International Food Standard (IFS), version 5. Today, uniform quality standards are a must in the food production industry due to growing consumer demands, the increased risk of claims for damages and the globalization of goods flows. Version 5 of the International Food Standard (IFS) came into force on 1 August 2007 and is considered the international standard for quality assurance and food safety. This standard is based on a uniform check of all stages of the food production process. Rittal's new Hygienic Design enclosure series can be used to improve the key criteria involved in the food manufacturing processes, including system design and procedures, climate control, planning, hygiene, risk of foreign bodies, maintenance and repair, and systems and equipment. Systems and procedures - from receipt of goods to dispatch - must be designed in line with the IFS to prevent contamination of raw materials, packaging materials, semi-finished and finished goods. Foreign bodies and micro-organisms are primary causes of spoilage in fresh food. Therefore, it is essential that "open" processes in production systems are designed to meet all the necessary hygiene requirements. In this context, the new IFS gives company management greater responsibility for hygiene and cleanliness. As one of the world's leading solution providers for housing and enclosure technology, system climate control and IT solutions, Rittal's new housing series is setting standards in hygienic design. The company now offers a completely new series of stainless steel housings designed to meet the special requirements of food producers, who are looking for their suppliers to meet their increasing demands on the hygienic design of machines and systems. Rittal Hygienic Design does more than just meet the IFS requirements - it also cuts the outlay for cleaning and disinfection, which in turn reduces downtimes and increases productivity.
